Questions & answers about what we do and why we are
important to you.
Why do I have to have a backflow device
on my water system?
Per your Water Companies requirements in the
terms of use contract.

How often do my devices need to be
inspected?
Annually
___ _____________________________________________________
Does a backflow device ever
fail?
Yes, about 5% to 10% fail. Look in the back
of your coffee pot or toilet and notice the buildup of mineral
deposits. Any obstruction in the water line will cause the
device to fail. This is because it stops the device parts from sealing correctly. Also, some of the device parts wear out over time. Check out http://BackFlowPreventors.com
for more information.

I have a brand new device, why would it
fail?
If the installer didn’t get everything flushed or
blown out of the water line, there was construction on the water line
in the area, or the water line breaks, the device may fail the inspection.
_________________________________________________________
Why should I check for a backflow
device?
To protect the public
water source from any contaminants being returned back into
the public water system. Would you want to drink the water
from your lawn with all the
chemicals?

_________________________________________________________
What if I don’t get it
tested?
The water company will send you a “Please Test
your Devices” letter and eventually turn off your
water until the devices are
tested.
